Revenue at $1.43 billion was also slightly ahead of the $1.4 billion that the Street was waiting for. Universal Display Corporation shares closed up 12.02% on Wednesday with about 2.53 million shares traded. The stock popped after analysts at Deutsche Bank initiated coverage on it and gave it a "buy" rating. Analysts Sidney Ho and Ross Seymore also put a $135 price target on shares which is almost a 22% premium over Tuesday’s closing price. Ho has called Universal Display a "pure play." According to Ho, the size of OLED displays is increasing. "We also think the Street does not fully appreciate that UDC’s business is tied to OLED production level rather than equipment purchases," said the firm. Deutsche Bank expects very strong growth for display equipment suppliers and OLED materials suppliers. Ho has also noted that the company is positioned to benefit from both the permeation of OLED in the Chinese smartphone market and the widely expected introduction of Apple’s first OLED iPhone next month.
